Engine / Engine Dismantling / Rocker Arms from Rocker Carriers LH & RH

  • Thread in a Hex flange bolt (M6) (a) into the threaded portion of rocker shaft (b).
  • Gently pull out rocker shaft from rocker carrier, duly supporting the rocker arms.
  • Remove rocker arms inlet and exhaust from the rocker carrier.
  • Repeat the procedures above to remove rocker arms from the other carrier.

Engine Dismantling

  • Gently depress the spring (a) and remove from rocker carrierrs (b).

Timing Chain Tensioner

  • Loosen and remove center Hex flange bolt (M6) (a) from cylinder barrel.

Engine Dismantling

  • Insert screw driver into chain tensioner housing and turn clockwise until pad is free.

Engine Dismantling

  • Loosen and remove 2 Nos. Hex flange bolts (M6) (a) from cylinder barrel (b).

Engine Dismantling

  • Remove timing chain pad adjuster (a) from cylinder barrel.

Engine Dismantling

Cam Shaft, Sprocket & Chain

  • Rotate magneto rotor in clockwise direction, till one of the Hex head bolts on cam chain sprocket appears at the top most position.

Engine Dismantling

  • Loosen and remove 1 st Hex head bolt (M8) (a) from cam sprocket.

Engine Dismantling

  • Rotate magneto rotor in clockwise direction till other bolt is visible at top most position.

Engine Dismantling

  • Loosen and remove 2 nd Hex head bolt (M8) (a) from cam sprocket.

Engine Dismantling

  • Remove "C" washer (a) from groove in cylinder head LH to release cam shaft.

Engine Dismantling

  • Gently release timing chain (a) from camshaft sprocket and remove camshaft (b) from cylinder head assembly.

Engine Dismantling

  • Support timing chain suitably at the top to prevent it from dropping into the crankcase.

Magneto Cover

  • Loosen and remove 12 Nos. Hex socket head bolts (M6) (a) in crisscross pattern to remove magneto cover (b) from LH.

Engine Dismantling

  • The magneto cover may be hard to remove from crankcase, due to the magnetic force from the magneto acting on the stator coil.
  • Gently tap on the tabs (a) with a plastic / rubber mallet, on the inside edges of the magneto cover, to remove.

Engine Dismantling

  • Remove gasket (a).

Engine Dismantling

CAUTION Do not use a sharp tool to scrap the gasket material from the joint faces.

If required scrap only with a soft and blunt tool.

  • Remove the 2 dowel pins (a) and (b) from the crankcases/magneto cover.

    Remove the circlip (a) from shifter shaft (b) on engine LH side. Remove the washer (a) from shifter shaft. Gently pull out shifter shaft assembly (a) from engine RH side. Remove circlip (a) from shorter end of shifter shaft (b). Remove washer (a) from shorter end of shifter shaft (b). Remove spring (a) from shifter shaft (b). Remove plate (a) from shorter end of shifter shaft (b). Remove circlip (a) from longer end of shifter shaft (b). - Remove washer (a) from longer end of shifter shaft (b). Expand spring legs and pull out spring (a) from longer end of shifter shaft (b).

    Stator Assembly with Crank Position Sensor (CPS) Loosen and remove 3 Nos. Hex socket head screws (M6) (a) holding the stator assembly (b). Loosen and remove 2 Nos. Hex socket head screws (M6) (a) on guide plate (b), holding crank position sensor to magneto cover. Remove the guide plate (a) from magneto cover. Gently release the wiring grommet (a) from the magneto cover. Gently remove stator assembly (b) from magneto cover.
